1: What is Model United Nations?

Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations and other international bodies, where the students (delegates) takes role as diplomats, ambassadors, journalists, NGO agents, renowned experts, and government ministers. These delegates come together to discuss some of the world’s most crucial issues, and work how to address and how to resolve them as well. 2: Where will ITBMUN 2016 take place?

ITBMUN 2016 will take place at Grand Tjokro Hotel, Bandung, West Java. You may refer to Linked to Navigation 4: Venue for the address and exact location via Google Maps.

3: Do the participants need to have MUN experiences and related studies?

Delegates do not need to have prior experiences in Model UN, or even in international relations studies. Students of all backgrounds and level of experiences are eligible to register for ITBMUN 2016 as long as they are committed to learn new things and gain network with other delegates.

4: Who can partake in ITBMUN 2016?

ITBMUN 2016 is suitable for students enrolled at any institution; High school, Polytechnic, or University. Meanwhile, the participants/delegates of each council must meet with this requirement. Do read this part carefully.

•           SOCHUM (Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee) is specified for beginner MUN delegates from high school and varsity levels

•           SPECPOL (Special Political and Decolonization Committee) is specified for experienced varsity delegates (having participated in national and international MUN AT LEAST (in total) 2 times AND/OR have received awards from past MUNs

5: How many delegates can represent an institution?

One delegation from and representing the same institution consists of min. 4 delegates

6: What is the registration fee?

The fee of each registration batch is as follows:

 1 August - 31 August (Batch 1 / Early Bird Phase) : IDR 750,000 / person

 1 September - 16 October : Batch 2 / Regular Phase : IDR 850,000 / person

 17 October - 31 October : Batch 3 / Late Phase : IDR 900,000 / person

The fee for an individual delegate and a delegate in a delegation are the same.

7: How do I apply or register?

Participants can register at the linked to Navigation 5A: Apply. They may also contact liaisonitbmun2016@gmail.com for any issues faced during registrations.

8: When will the registration be opened?

Registration is officially opened on the 1st of August 2016. There are three phases of registration overall. You may refer to linked to Navigation 5B: Timeline

9: When is the deadline for registrations?

10: How do I know that ITBMUN 2016 confirms my registration?

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation mail from us within 48 hours after your registration attempt. If you do not receive a mail from us within 48 hours, please mail into liaisonitbmun2016@gmail.com to confirm that we have received your registration.

11: What if my university does not have a delegation?

Delegates are allowed to participate as individuals if their university does not have a delegation.

12: Will ITBMUN 2016 provide any training to the delegates?

ITBMUN 2016 will give out study guides to the participants for preparation. However, no training will be provided, as we believe that independent learning will be the right guidance.

13: Are position papers required for ITBMUN 2016?

Position paper is not regarded as a prerequisite or requirement for ITBMUN 2016. Meanwhile, position paper made and submitted by a delegate will be the chair’s consideration for appointing a delegate for being notably awarded a Best Position Paper award. In other words, the delegate who does not submit his/her position paper will not be accounted for Best Position Paper award. 

14: Are pre-drafted or pre-written resolutions allowed at ITBMUN 2016?

15: Is attendance taken at committees?

16: Can I get awards?

The awards are Best Position Paper, Honorable Mention, Outstanding Delegate, and Best Delegate. The qualifications for being the chair’s choice that certain delegates deserve to win awards can be found out here Linked to Navigation 3C: Resources à Rules of Procedures (ROP)

 

17: What is the dress code for the conference?

Standard delegate attire for the conference is dress shirt and pants, suit jacket, tie and dress shoes (for boys), and a smart suit or dress (for girls). Sneakers, jeans, shorts, caps, sunglasses, and other casual wear are not acceptable in committee.

18: Should I bring a laptop?

20: Does ITBMUN 2016 provide any accommodation?

We do not provide any accommodation, but we have a list of some of our recommended accommodations for delegates to pay at his/her own expense. We have displayed them in the website. You may kindly refer to Linked to Navigation 4C: Accomodations

21: Are meals provided during the conference?

For sure, meals (only during the conferences and events scheduled) will be provided by ITBMUN 2016.

22: Will ITBMUN 2016 offer assistance to delegates having disabilities or needing special treatments?

Any request for special assistance will be dealt with on case-by-case basis. Delegates can contact us at liaisonitbmun2016@gmail.com for further queries.

23: Will ITBMUN 2016 offer financial assistance to any delegate in such cases?

No further financial assistance will be provided. But, for this time being, we encourage the delegations or delegates to find their financial sponsors.

24: Are there any other activities other than the formal council meetings?
